It's been a great season for tomatoes and you're probably getting tired of BLTs, spaghetti and salsa. Here are some fun suggestions:

  • 1

    Roast Them

They'll store in the freezer for months after roasting and they're excellent on toast or as a side dish.

  • 2

    Dehydrate

Add dehydrated tomatoes to soups, sauces and noodle salads.

  • 3

    Soup

Make tomato soup or minestrone, or add them to any chili or stew.

  • 4

    Cantonese Tomato Beef Stirfry

Don't forget the Chinese invented ketchup (they called it catsup). Chinese tomato dishes are delightful.

  • 5

    Goulash

I love to make Goulash in October because it has the word "ghoul" in it!

  • 6

    Gumbo

I've disliked 9 out of 10 gumbo I've ever had, but the 1 out of 10 was incredible... so find a recipe you like.

  • 7

    Make Chinese catsup

Most Americans don't know how to do this. Some don't even realize what they're ordering at their favorite Chinese restaurant is catsup. Learn how, use up your tomatoes, and impress your friends.

    Chili

I'm not going to suggest a chili recipe because that's like suggesting a religion. You'll have to go on your own spirit quest to find a chili recipe you like.

    Pasta dishes

There are a TON of great ways to use tomatoes with pasta besides a marinara sauce.

  • 10

Experiment with tomatoes in egg dishes

There's a lot of cool stuff you can do with tomatoes in omelettes, quiche, and frittatas.
