As we come to the end of 2011, looking back, it was a busy year for Mother Nature.

A number of storms, tonadoes, hurricanes, and other natural disasters occurred in 2011, some we still remember, some we have forgotten.  For a fascinating look at the year it was in weather, click here.  As for the Mid Columbia, it was a mild year.   We did not get above 100 degrees until late August, and it was one of the coolest summers on recent record.  Our one big natural event was the annual flooding of the Yakima River, but despite some damage, the river crested below expected stages so the damage was kept to a relative minimum.  But it was still an impressive display from nature.
