2014 WA Political Races Full of “Dirty” Out-Of-State Money, Illegal “Tricks”

It's important to stay on top of this, because it affects the races for the legislators who directly represent YOU, the voter.  It's right where you live.

ShiftWA is a new group that's dedicated (according to their mission statement) to counter the liberal trend and undue influence in politics.  Since their inception, they have investigated and published hundreds of articles about the "seedy" underbelly of Washington state legislative activities and politics.  Some good reading.

ShiftWA, on this election day, has just posted a story about they say are the shady, behind-the-scenes and even illegal financial and campaign tactics pulled by numerous Democratic candidates and special interest groups.

They were the first to shed the spotlight on Tom Steyer, the CA billionaire venture capitalist who's poured millions into Washington state Senate races.   Now, numerous West side media are starting to pay attention to Steyer, and his relationship with Gov. Inslee.

This election, Steyer and others are desperately trying to break up what is known as "The Coalition" in the Washington state senate.  It's a group of 24 GOP legislators and 2 Democrats who side with them.  Newstalk 870, ShiftWA and others have reported they're often the only roadblock stopping Inslee's green agenda and tax increases.  So,  the ones up for re-election are big targets.

ShiftWA has detailed how Democrats used  un-registered PAC's or Political Action Committees to attack GOP Senators running for re-election.  At least three different shadow PACs have funneled millions of dollars into at least six Senate races.  ShiftWA has learned most of them have phony front names to disguise their real contributors - and these groups never registered (as required by law) with the Federal Elections Commission.  All of the instances reported by ShiftWA would result in stiff penalties by the Election Commission, possibly even prosecution for election fraud.

ShiftWA also reports on how Mark Wilson, Democratic candidate in the 44th. Legislative District,  used his position as a high school cross-country coach in the Everett School District to further his campaign.  During practice, Wilson sent his athletes door-to-door with campaign materials to hand out!  A search of public records uncovered emails showing he used public resources (money) to pay for campaign literature.  The Everett school district has launched two investigations into his activities.

They also report a GOP Senate Candidate, Mark Miloscia in the Federal Way district, was attacked by an "anonymous" website that condemned him for his Catholic faith.  The website featured a caricature of him with a Confederate flag on his briefcase. It accused him of "representing the Vatican" and not the people of Federal Way It also contained other inflammatory materials that would have triggered a "firestorm" if it were an attack on "the left".   The creator of this website had close ties and had worked with Democrat leader Shari Song.    The incident went unnoticed by the Wa State Democratic Central Committee.

ShiftWA reports it appears these political campaigns are willing to risk fines and punishment from the election authorities if it means they can win their campaigns.
