This week, investigators officially said the fire was due to an accident, a power surge that triggered the blaze.

July 31st, a father and his two children sustained serious injuries when their Benton City mobile home caught fire.

The home, at 27722 E. Kennedy Road, quickly went up in flames after an electrical surge caused the fire. Officials now say the power surge occurred when a trailer hit a nearby power pole, damaging a junction box, according to yaktrinews.com

The father and his ten year-old son are still in Harborview Medical Center in Seattle in critical condition, but unfortunately last Friday, the girl, 7-year-old Erika Carillo, didn’t survive her injuries and died.
