The Washington State Patrol says the 74-year-old male driver and his 71-year old wife didn't survive the accident.

Their identities have not yet been released, but troopers said just after 7pm Tuesday night, the two were driving on Highway 155. About four miles outside of Coulee City, the car left the road, landing in an embankment.  The accident occurred about 30 miles north of Moses Lake in Grant County.

Officials didn't say if the car rolled or became airborne, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was airlifted to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane but died later.

The investigation continues.
