Police say a 35-year-old wanted fugitive is in the Benton County jail after an early Monday morning incident.

Police said Dena Chenault of 4202 West Albany awoke around 1:45am to let her dog out when she heard a male voice inside her home she shares with her 21-year-old daughter.

She called her to, but instead of fleeing, William E. Gustafson tried to force his way into her bedroom.  She was able to resist and called 911.  Gustafson then left the home on foot and ran to the area on Albany near the Pro Build lumber store.

Officers said he was obviously on some sort of narcotic, as he began talking about his criminal past when he was finally caught near the Arby's parking lot on Clearwater.  He was found to be wanted on a Department of Corrections warrant, and was taken into custody.  He's on a 72-hour hold, facing Residential Burglary charges.
