Another ‘Mysterious’ Death at Umatilla Prison

Two Rivers Correctional Center officials are reporting an inmate died Sunday morning at the prison near Umatilla.

Unlike a number of inmates who die while in custody, Kenneth Allen was rather young. According to officials, staff was attending to "complaints" from the 23-year-old man when he became "unresponsive" around 11am.

Life saving efforts were immediately started, and continued when Umatilla Emergency Medical Technicians arrived, however they pronounced him dead at 11:09am.

Allen was serving a rather short term for three counts of theft and a count of possession of heroin out of Jackson County. He'd entered the prison in 2016, and was due to be released this December.

An investigation has begun into the cause of death.
