Despite a regional center being defeated, the idea of an aquatic center in and for Pasco is still alive.

Largely because of votes from Kennewick and Richland, the Tri-Cities Regional Aquatic Center was defeated some time ago. The land where it was to be located is now occupied by McCurley Subaru, and coming soon, a new location for Russ Dean Family RV. It was well supported in Pasco and Franklin County, but opposition grew the further away voters were located.

But Pasco officials still want to gauge public sentiment on such a facility for the City of Pasco.

Thursday, the Pasco Public Facilities District announced October 18th, Tuesday, there will be a public meeting to gather input and comments from citizens at 7pm. It will be held after the city council meeting in the council chambers in City Hall at 525 North 3rd Avenue.

Anyone interested in such an idea, or offering their comments is encouraged to attend. Pasco officials have not set any time tables for a center, but will be presenting several concepts and ideas for public input.
