According to eyewitness accounts and other information, the man fatally shot during the Oregon Wildlife Refuge standoff was 'cooperating' with authorities when he was gunned down by police, who shot him three times. (Resistance leader Ammon Bundy shown here).

Most news agencies are simply reporting that Robert "LaVoy Finnicum, who helped organize the Harney County wildlife refuge occupation and served as spokesman for Ammon Bundy and his followers, was fatally shot as Ammon and the 7 others were being taken into custody.

According to the FBI, they are facing charges similar to those used against environmentalists who occupy lands or commit acts against businesses or facilities they believe are harmful to animals or the environment.

OregonLive.com has provided and excellent timeline of events over the last couple of days, leading to Finnicum's fatal shooting. According to OregonLive:

"Nevada Assemblywoman Michele Fiore, a vocal supporter of the Bundy family, said that Ammon Bundy told his wife that Finicum was cooperating with police when he was shot three times. (Bold lettering added for emphasis).

But sources told The Oregonian/OregonLive that Finicum and Ryan Bundy disobeyed orders to surrender and resisted arrest. Authorities have not detailed what happened during the traffic stop."  (Bold lettering added for emphasis).

According to OregonLive:

" Greg Bretzing, the FBI's special agent in charge, will hold a news conference Wednesday morning in Burns to go over Tuesday's developments. He will be joined by U.S. Attorney Bill Williams and Harney County Sheriff Dave Ward."

Officials say there's a lot of information to be processed, hence the delay until Wednesday in going public, critics accuse the officials of collaborating to 'collaborating to get their story straight' about how and why Finnicum was shot. Critics say the FBI and others are just working to cover their tracks.

Much more information is expected to be released soon.
