Authorities are investigating a recent rash of robocalls claiming to be from the Tri-City Regional Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber said in a statement a number of area citizens have called them saying they received an automated phone call asking for personal information on behalf of the Regional Chamber.   Some of the calls claim the data is for research and marketing purposes.

Chamber officials emphasized they have never, nor will they ever, utilize what are called "robocalls."   And they would never call anyone asking for personal information.   The automated calls also ask the recipient to call the Regional Chamber.

It's obviously a scam, and Chamber officials stress if people do have legitimate questions, they CAN call the Chamber at 509-736-0510.

And of course, NEVER give personal information to anyone over the phone, especially if they call you and you've never heard of them.   Don't give ANY information in that manner.
