According to results of the autopsy performed on the body of a 55-year-old Kennewick woman found in a burning SUV near Richland earlier this week provided some information, but very limited.

Benton County Coroner John Hansens said the following Friday morning in his official statement:

"An autopsy was conducted today on Carol Haugen, a 55 year old Kennewick resident, who died in a vehicle fire on 11-16-15 near the west end of Gage Blvd.

Preliminary results are the death resulted from smoke inhalation and thermal injuries, but a final determination will have to wait until toxicology tests are completed. This will take approximately 8 weeks.

No foul play is suspected and all indications are that this was an accidental death.  Benton County Sheriff’s detectives are continuing their investigation."
Now, officials have to determine, if possible, if Haugen committed suicide, or it she was driving in the area, and some mishap occurred that set her vehicle on fire. It's becoming one of the most puzzling cases of the year so far in Benton County.
