In hopes of curbing some of the accidents, and improving driving at these areas, two problem intersections in Pasco will be getting red light cameras coming in 2019.

The Pasco City Council this week entered into a contract with traffic camera vendor Redflex. In spring 2019, cameras will be installed at 20th and Court, and Road 68 and Burden Boulevard.

There is a need for additional enforcement, especially by those who run the red lights and often cause accidents. A study done in September by city engineers showed in one day alone, at least 59 red light infractions occurred at 68 and Burden alone.

The cameras will snap pictures of vehicles and plates who commit violations, and citations will be issued. The cameras are expected to go up in March.
