This is pretty cool. The largest meteorite ever discovered was dug up in Oregon not far from Portland. I bet it was one heck of a dust cloud!

Experts believe the 16-ton rock landed on an Ice-Age glacier in Montana or Washington, then drifted to Oregon during the ice-age flood that shaped Eastern Washington.

It was uncovered by men looking for metal ore. The meteorite contained 90 percent ore! But unfortunately they had wandered off their own property, which meant it belonged to a company that owned the mineral rights to their neighbor's property. SO THEY MOVED IT! But got caught.

Now it resides in a museum in New York City.
