If signed, a new law in Washington would assess a $125 fine to pet owners who leave an animal in a vehicle where it "might be harmed by heat, cold, or lack of proper ventilation."

Late last week, Barronelle Stutzman, owner of Arlene's Flowers of Richland, turned down a settlement offer from Washington state Attorney General Bob Ferguson. After Superior Court Judge Alex Ekstrom ruled Stutzman violated the Consumer Protection Act by refusing to provide floral services for a same-sex wedding,  Ferguson offered a $2,001 dollar arrangement.  The $1 was for court costs.

Attorney George Herrmann of Tacoma had just taken over for George Paul Trejo Jr. of Yakima when he, too was sent packing. The widow and family of Antonio Zambrano-Montes (shot by Pasco police Feb. 10) has now hired Benjamin Crump, the same attorney who represented the families of Michael Brown in Ferguson and Treyvon Martin in Florida.
