You might have thought "cheap" (read that-affordable!) family vacations are a thing of the past, but they apparently are not.

According to US News And World Report, there are still some family vacations left to take that are not going to break the bank.   We eliminated some of the overseas gigs, but domestically, some great buys.

*Yellowstone National Park.    This national treasure is still full of family activities, and Old Faithful the geyser, Yellowstone Lake and Mammoth Hot Springs are must-see attractions.  A one-time fee will get you into the park for as long as seven days.

*Reno, Nevada.   What?  Reno?  It is one of the few places you can have the fun of casinos and bright lights, but still get away to the outdoors.  Lake Tahoe, Truckee River Walk, and other activities will appeal to the whole family.

*Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.   Besides being immortalized by the country group Alabama,  Myrtle offers a variety of activities besides the beach, and most of them are very affordable.   Many tourist areas have lowered prices due to the economy.
