Intoxicants and driving don't mix, and the end result was thousands of dollars in broken frozen food.

The Oregon State Patrol says reckless driving linked to DUI is the reason behind a spectacular crash that destroyed a semi-truck east of Pendleton early Monday morning.

Around 4am, 55-year-old Vasyl Prymachuk was headed west when he failed to negotiate a corner, sending his truck off the interstate, into the median, destroying much of the vehicle.

So much so that he was trapped in the wreckage, but escaped serious injury.  After being cut from the cab, he was transported to an area hospital and treated for some minor issues. He was then arrested for DUI and booked into the Umatilla County Jail.

The crash scattered thousands of boxes of frozen chicken around the accident scene.
