The Washington Poison Center says it's early, but they are concerned about the number of children and youth who've ingested pot or pot-laced products so far this year.

Most marijuana stores in Washington state sell what are called "edibles," or pot-laded candy, brownies or other foodstuffs.

Despite what manufacturers say are specific product labeling and even putting Mr. Yuck stickers on some,  the number of children who've accidentally eaten them has climbed dramatically.

The Poison  Center says that number is 32 already, compared with 24 for this time in 2014.  Depending upon the age and health of the child, officials say marijuana exposure - especially at concentrated adult levels - can be potentially dangerous for a child.

However, some officials say the increased calls may be due to a greater willingness of adults to report such accidental eating, compared with lower levels before pot became legal in the state.

But regardless of the reason, officials are concerned about the rising number of children who for whatever reason, have eaten a pot-laden edible, and become ill to varying degrees.  Some officials say it's usually due to a lack of parent or adult control in properly hiding or storing the edibles, all too often they're found by children who think they're a snack - regardless of the packaging or labeling.
