In the moment you think you can turn left before the other car gets to you, make sure you have the right of way.

Wendy B. Rodriguez, a 40-year-old Oroville woman, was driving a white 2015 Chevrolet Cruz south on Highway 395 in Kennewick Friday afternoon when she decided to turn left onto Kennewick Avenue.

The Washington State Patrol said she failed to yield the right of way and struck a red 1999 Dodge Neon going the opposite direction in the intersection.

Gina L. Castle, a 52-yeaer-old Kennewick woman, was driving the Neon and was injured. She and Rodriguez were taken to Trios Southridge for treatment.

The state patrol said Rodriguez was issued a citation for failure to yield the right of way.
