Authorities still have not determined why a Washington woman's car suddenly veered off a rural highway in Oregon, then rolled over 500 feet down an embankment, killing her instantly.

Oregon State Patrol officials say just before 4pm Monday, they were notified of a single-car crash on State Route 3, near Joseph Canyon in Wallowa County.

Upon arrival they found a 2002 Oldsmobile Alero driven by 23-year-old Sonja Louise Johnson of Asotin, WA, had been Northbound, then crossed the highway and plunged off the road into the canyon.  Authorities say her car rolled at least 500 down the steep hillside, coming to a rest.

She was wearing a seatbelt, but was found dead inside the wreckage.
