Driver on Cellphone Rear-Ends Other Car, Destroys Both

Benton County Sheriff's present a textbook case of distracted driving, with this accident that occurred around 10am Friday morning.

Deputies responded to the intersection of Gap and Johnson Roads, just Northwest of Prosser, and found a woman had slammed into the back of another vehicle at the four-way stop.

The car shown in picture was coming up to the intersection, but the driver didn't see a care stopped in front of her at the stop sign. She plowed into the back of the other vehicle, and authorities believe both are likely totaled.

Fortunately, neither driver sustained any injuries other than some bumps and bruises, but the woman on the phone will not only be cited for negligent but also that new Distracted Driving ticket.

Authorities say either put down the phone, or use a legal hands-free device!
