The homeowners near the intersection of Volland and Metaline got a rude awakening early Thursday morning, when a suspected drunk driver ran a stop sign, then took out a fence.

19-year-old Guillermo Saaverde was headed East on Metaline, but blew the stop sign at Volland. He apparently lost control, plowed his car into the end of a fence, then got stuck.

Police arrived quickly, and he was taken into custody. Besides facing charges for the driving infractions, Kennewick officers say DUI is suspected. Could also be he eventually gets a bill for rebuilding the fence.
