Driver Rear-Ends Vehicle, Killed When She Went to Check on Other Motorist

A fatal crash has occurred on Highway 17 near Othello.

The Washington State Patrol reports a 49-year-old woman is dead after being hit by a car on State Route 17.   During the overnight hours into Wednesday, Maria Farias of Othello rear-ended another vehicle that was preparing to turn off a side road onto the highway.

When Farias left her vehicle to check on the other motorist, she was apparently struck by another vehicle on the freeway and was pronounced dead at the scene.  No other injuries were reported, the accident investigation continues.
