Area residents are lucky this guy didn't trigger an explosion.

Pasco police say Monday evening, 34-year-old Marcos Antonio Gonzales was allegedly drunk behind the wheel of his car when he plowed over and destroyed a natural gas meter in the 9400 block of Mustang Ave.

Around 8:15 police and natural gas crews were called to what was said to be a serious leak. Gonzales then drove away from the scene, eventually dumping his car through somebody's fence, then fleeing on foot.

He was chased by police through several neighborhoods, before being corralled by K-9 Lemon and other officers. Then, he resisted arrest by trying to fight the officers. Finally, he was found to be intoxicated and had a restraining order banning him from being at the place where the incident began!  He's facing a lot of charges.

Crews were able to safety shut off and cap the gas leak without any injuries.
