FBI Now Taking Over Missing Kennewick Girl Case – Amber Alert Cancelled

Elizabeth Ramero now believed to be kidnapping victim
(Kennewick police department)

The FBI has now taken over investigation of the case of missing 14-year-old Kennewick girl, who is believed to be heading to Mexico with her boyfriend but officials believe it’s a kidnapping.

Oregon emergency officials Friday called off the Amber Alert because it is believed that Elizabeth Ramero is no longer in the state.  Kennewick police had requested the Amber Alert which was sent out Thursday afternoon.

Ramero was last seen leaving her school at lunch December 4 with her 19-year-old boyfriend, Edwardo Flores Rosales in his dark forest green Ford Escape.  He is facing a kidnapping charge.  The alert was issued Thursday.  The girl had failed to return home from school, and her mother called Kennewick police.

According to officials, and Kennewick police, the FBI Violent Crimes unit has taken over the investigation.  Rosales reportedly had been in the Tri-Cities area for about a month, and the two reportedly met on Facebook.   Officials believe he may have been “grooming” or preparing her for an abduction.   Rosales’ family told investigators he told them he was moving to Kennewick around Thanksgiving for a new job. His family lives in the area of Hood River, Oregon.

The vehicle belongs to Rosales’ brother and he told police he had recently put new license plates on it, but video surveillance footage and pictures show they have been removed, and replaced by a temporary paper permit in the window.

As reported earlier by Newstalk 870,  text received by Ramero’s mother from an unknown individual claiming to be her indicated they were headed to Mexico.

Anyone with any information is still urged to contact Tri-Cities Crime Stoppers at (509)-586-TIPS (8477).
