Are Millennials lazy? We hear that all the time. Maybe you've noticed fewer teenagers working at restaurants, carwashes and construction sites. It's true that fewer teens are working summer jobs, but it's not necessarily because they're lazier than previous generations.

A lot of teens still work summer jobs, but not all of them are earning money for college. It turns out that because college is getting harder and more expensive, it makes more sense to invest extra time in preparing for college, earning scholarships, or taking summer classes to get done faster. Since minimum wage at the malt shop will no longer cover your first semester (it might not even cover all your books!), making the most of that $24k tuition they borrowed makes more sense.
