With much anticipation, and some sadness, NASA blasted off the Atlantis Space Shuttle, marking the final flight for the decades-old shuttle program that revolutionized space exploration.  A perfect launch under partly sunny skies this morning saw Atlantis rocket to space for the final time.

With the very future of NASA uncertain, especially with the mixed and confusing signals from the Obama administration, no one really has any clue as to where the US space program is headed for the next generation.  But at least we can watch the spectacular launch of a shuttle one more time.
