Wednesday night fire crews and Benton County Sheriff's deputies responded to a grass fire near the intersection of Harrington and Baker Roads, less than a half mile south of Horn Rapids along Highway 240.

The fire is now believed to have begun because somebody was lighting off fireworks in the area. The fast moving blaze destroyed a fence, but no buildings were consumed and no one was injured, luckily.

Sheriff's deputies now say they have identified the person responsible, the fire threatened and could have burned two nearby homes if it were not contained.
