Richard Aguirre, the former Pasco police officer reportedly linked to the murder of a Spokane prostitute in 1986, is also facing a trial over rape allegations in Pasco. His attorney is going to ask for a change of venue for that event.

John Henry Browne, who is representing Aguirre, says he wants a new location for Aguirre's trial on charges he allegedly raped a woman in his Pasco home in November 2014. As reported here with Newstalk870, the woman said she had been staying the night with him, using the same bed, but using a blanket as a "barrier."

She claimed Aguirre sexually assaulted her. Spokane County prosecutors have agreed to remove all evidence from the investigation into whether Aguirre was involved with the death of Ruby Doss, a Spokane prostitute found dead in 1986. DNA evidence reportedly linked Aguirre to that crime. However, Aguirre's attorney says he could not have committed that crime because he was in Korea in the Air Force at that time.

The Pasco rape allegations are not related to the Spokane Doss case.

Officials expect Franklin County officials to also remove any Spokane case evidence from this Pasco rape trial. Browne told our news partner KNDU-TV that while he believes news and media reports in Spokane about the case have been fair and balanced, he cannot say the same for the Tri-Cities.

Browne believes all the Tri-City reports and publicity will make it impossible for Aguirre to get a fair trail on the November, 2014 Pasco rape charge.
