According to Spokane investigators, a former Pasco police officer tied to a 1986 murder had a history of violence.

Richard J. Aguirre is accused of rape stemming from a November, 2014 incident in Pasco, also accused of illegally videotaping sex acts with people, and DNA has tied him to the 1986 strangulation murder of a Spokane prostitute.

Investigators say they have uncovered some shocking and disturbing backround information.  According to NW Cable News:

"During their investigation, police uncovered 80,000 images and 365 videos, many of which depict Aguirre having aggressive and often violent sex with men and women. In each video, documents said Aguirre is controlling and dominant and police said many of the victims were recorded without their knowledge.

New court documents said police have now identified several victims and have interviewed several women who dated Aguirre.

In most cases, women reported that Aguirre attempted to or did choke them during sex. Documents said descriptions of the choking ranged from women reporting only light choking to women reporting violent choking where they feared for their lives.

Investigators said most of the time Aguirre used his hands, while other times he used a ligature. One victim told police she was intimidated by Aguirre's size and strength and his authority as a police officer."

Officials say some victims are not cooperating with authorities because they fear others will find out about them and they are embarrassed.  One woman told police when she was dating Aguirre she found a bag full of memory cards that contained older photos of women who appeared to be prostitutes.

Authorities say in this type of homicide it's not uncommon for suspects to keep souvenirs and momentos of their crimes; they think the photos and videos are Aguirre's momentos.
