Shawn O'Malley, a 2006  Suns graduate, will join 15 other non-roster invitees in Peoria, Arizona, this spring.

O'Malley was also a former All-State wide receiver for the Southridge football team in Kennewick. He signed a minor league contract with Seattle and according to the Mariner's baseball website:

Utility man Shawn O’Malley, a native of Richland, signed a minor league contract today with an invitation to Major League Spring Training. O’Malley, 27, appeared in 11 games with the Angels last season. He was a Pacific Coast League Mid-Season All-Star and hit .330 (105x318) with 19 doubles, 9 triples, 3 home runs and 38 RBI in 89 games with Triple-A Salt Lake. He was originally selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 5th round of the 2006 June Draft out of Southridge (WA) High School. The multi-sport athlete was named to the Seattle Times 4A All-State football team as a wide receiver in 2005 and was a member of the 2006 USA Today High School All-America team.

The Mariners will start spring training Feb. 20 with players arriving for physicals. Various position players will report starting Feb. 21.
