Like every WHL team, the Chiefs had to get down to the three 20-year-old limit.  Spokane has chosen to part ways with former American favorite and standout Marcus Messier.

While many teams start with at least four (or more)  of what are often referred to as "overage" players, or "20's,"    they have to reach a limit of three a number of weeks into the season.

The Chiefs announced they had acquired 20-year-old Calder Brooks, meaning Messier will be placed on waivers, and free to sign with any other team who might need his services.

Messier began his career in Tri-Cities,  before being traded to the Chiefs last season.  In 34 games with Spokane, he had 5 goals and six assists.

In four seasons with the Americans, he played in 195 games, scoring 21 goals with 36 assists.  His best season was 2012-13 with totals of 11 and 12 respectively.
