Compared with those from 2014, authorities are seeing upticks in drug related and property destruction cases.

Some mixed results in Franklin County for crime statistics. While weapons related crimes and fraud have dropped, car thefts and residential burglaries have risen.

Some think the increased number of burglaries are related to the increase in drug related cases. Thieves stealing items to sell to fuel drug habits could be contributing to the problem.

Officials also believe as the county population grows, it's one of the fastest growing areas in the state, the number of service calls and crime reports are also increasing.

Sheriff's officials also stress citizens can greatly protect themselves against burglaries and car thefts by simply making sure doors and windows are locked, and never leaving vehicles running while unoccupied.
