Japanese scientists have confirmed that an ingredient found in french fry oil can actually cure baldness and regrown hair.

The chemical is dimethylpolysiloxane, and it is used to keep french fry oil from oiling over. The same chemical has now been used to regrow hair on mice and they think it could be the answer for hair loss in humans.

The scientists use dimethylpolysiloxane to grow multiple HFG's ( hair follicle germs) and then place the germs on the back of mice. Hair started growing within just a few days according to news reports. The chemical made oxygen transfer easy allowing for "both HFG formation and subsequent hair shaft generation".

The chemical does not work on its own however, so eating more french fries or rubbing fry oil on your head will not help regrow your hair.
