It was one of the most popular gaming systems of it's day, but soon it will be gone.

Sony has announced the pending shutdown of the Playstation 2 console system, in favor of the new Playstation 3.  After it's debut in 2000, Sony sold more than 153 million units!  Even after the Playstation 3 came on the scene about six years ago,  Sony kept making the 2 because of it's wild popularity.

The shutdown will first affect the Japanese market, but the U.S. and Europe will soon see units going away in stores.   While they won't be pulled from shelves, they just won't be resupplied once they are sold in stores.   You might want to grab and extra, if you recall when the Nintendo 64 went bye bye,  it has now become of the most sought-after retro gaming systems around.
