It's believed to be a first in the history of Gallup Polling Data...a 'generic' candidate beats an incumbent president in polling data...

In the latest Gallup Poll,  'republican' candidate beats Obama by nearly 8%!  The poll indicates any of the GOP candidates  would beat Obama if the election were held today.  The poll officially lists it as "the Republican Party's Candidate For President." and for the second month in a row this unnamed person has found themselves ahead of the President.  In the early 90's Bush held a comfortable lead over "Democratic Opponent" but this is believed to be the first time an unknown candidate representing a political party has held a noticable edge over the incumbent for two consecutive months.   Poll data also indicates Obama losing considerable support from Independent voters who are officially not registered as GOP or Democrat.   Obama still holds a wide majority among registered Democrats, but it is virtually a landslide on the GOP side against Obama, while the Independent vote sways over ten points in favor of the GOP unknown.
