No word on when pumping and work on two Hanford area tanks, and other parts of the waste tank farm will continue, after 11 workers were checked after reporting smelling fumes.

The Office of River Protection reports the work has been suspended after two workers were evaluated Thursday. They'd been wearing respirators because fumes were possible in the are they were working. After removing the respirators, they reported smelling odors, and then got headaches. They were evaluated by an on-site medical provider.

Then seven others were also checked as a precaution, and two others smelled fumes as well while walking along the transfer line for the waste being pumped from the tank AY-102. Work on two tanks, AY-102 and AP-102 has been suspended for the time being.
