Benton County Fire District Four crews were able to help others free two horses who were trapped in an early-morning barn fire near Benton City.

Crews were called to North 435 Private Road Northeast around 6:15am and upon arrival saw the barn spewing huge flames.

Two horses were trapped but fire crews were able to cut a hole in the wall and free one of them. The other was able to be led out the front after crews poured water on the area. The barn was completely consumed, officials have not said what triggered the fire, but some believe an external or additional heating source may be the cause.

The investigation continues.
