A family is now displaced but fortunately not seriously hurt after an early morning fire Friday at 6th. street and Garfield.

Kennewick fire crews were able to help the fire keep from spreading by grabbing a garden hose and using it to beat back the flames in a bedroom until they could get the other main hose up and going.

Although this prevented the house from being consumed, authorities say the family is still displaced until repairs can be made. A man at the home did sustain some injuries and suffered from smoke inhalation, but will be OK.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, according to yaktrinews.com.
