State officials, the Red Cross and others have been overwhelmed with requests for information and people wanting to know how they can help the hundreds of people affected by the horrific Oso, WA mudslide that has already claimed nearly two dozen lives.

Washington State Senator Barbara Bailey (R) from Oak Harbor, WA has posted official information about how citizens can assist with direct aid or involvement. From her information release:

  • Access www.youcaring.org/ososlide
  • Take or send your donation to:
    Union Bank, ATTN: Tina Davis
    525 N. Olympic Avenue
    Arlington, WA 98223
  • Take or send your donation to:
    Cascade Valley Hospital Foundation
    330 S. Stillaguamish Ave.
    Arlington, WA 98223

Senator Bailey said these are official organizations who will make sure your support ends up where it's supposed to go.  They have been "vetted" so to speak, and this will allow citizens to get involved without worrying if they are being scammed.

These organizations are more closely connected to relief efforts, and can potentially help speed the delivery, as there aren't any "middle men" involved in getting the relief to people who need it.
