With 100+ degree weather we're all struggling to give our kids and pets enough "outside time." But even if your animal has been cooped up all day, you could burn their feet by walking them when the asphalt is too hot. Here's how to tell:

Lay the back of your hand on the cement or asphalt for five seconds. If you can stand it, your dog can likely stand a short walk. Put the palm of your hand down for longer to determine if they're OK for a longer walk.

If they really need exercise, take them to a dog park and let them run a bit while you stand ready with water.
