Virtually all the activities at Walla Walla High School were canceled this week, and could be delayed for some time after the main water line ruptured at the school sending thousands of gallons of water everywhere, and bringing down the school's entire plumbing system.

School District officials said the pipe, one of many that date back to 1963, ruptured and will have to be replaced. Principal Pete Peterson said it's one of two major water-related issues they're having to deal with.

They're both related to failing water pipes in the foundation of the 53-year-old building. Walla Walla voters approved a levy earlier this year that will provide funding for numerous improvements, but a 2014 bond effort that would have renovated numerous facilities failed.

Officials don't know how long the water will be down, but it will affect any and all activities at the school this summer.
