Immigration Officials Checking Tri-Cities Jail Fingerprint Records

Washington has now become the 34th state to implement a new ICE (Immigration-Customs Enforcement) policy.
The new program, called Secure Communities, involves Federal agents checking the booking fingerprint records of every jail facility in Washington State, looking for possible hits on illegal aliens, or to see if jail records match up with any individuals wanted for immigration or Federal-related crimes. The program, which first started in 2008, has resulted in over 129,000 people being deported for being here illegally.
