It's back to sunny San Diego for Washington State University (WSU), after accepting a bid to the San Diego County Credit Union Holiday Bowl. It will be held Thursday Dec. 28, and the Cougs will square off versus Michigan State.

WSU lost the Apple Cup, and missed out on the PAC-12 championship game, and missing a bigger bowl game. The Cougs played in the Holiday Bowl last year, suffering an upset loss to Minnesota.

WSU finished the regular season ranked 18th., while the Spartans are 16th. Both teams are 9-3 and going in.

It's the fourth bowl game in six years for WSU, and the 3rd straight post-season game, both WSU records.  All-time, WSU is 2-5 vs. Michigan State, but has not played them since a 23-21 WSU win in East Lansing, MI in 1977.

The game will be televised on Fox Sports1, or FS1 at 6pm PM Pacific Time.

Some are speculating how long Mike Leach will remain coach of the Cougs, the Pirate of the Palouse was linked to the Tennessee job, and possible other programs needing coaches as well.
