Two male juveniles with numerous previous offenses are in the Benton County Juvenile Detention Center after being arrested Monday evening. They were no match for Axel, the police dog.

Around 8:45pm, a citizen in the 6900 block of West 2nd. reported two young men trying to break in through some windows in the back of the home. After calling 911 police arrived in just a couple of minutes, and the two fled.

An officer saw them coming through a neighbor's backyard, but they refused his command to stop and ran. Officers quickly set up a containment area, then brought in the K-9 unit. Axel, one of the KPD dogs, quickly located and helped apprehend the two. One was hiding in a garbage can nearby, the other under a tree in another yard.

Police said both offenders have previous arrests for assault, drug charges, graffiti and other charges. The two admitted they tried to break in after reportedly ringing the doorbell and nobody answered.
