It's that time of year that those of us on the Kennewick Irrigation District water are preparing for the water to shut off for the season.

October 10th is the final day water will be flowing from the canals. The Kennewick Irrigation District issued a statement on their Facebook announcing the official water shut off date for the season.

Public Notice – Last Day of Irrigation Water Service for 2018
The Kennewick Irrigation District (KID) would like to let customers know that the last anticipated date of water delivery will be Wednesday, October 10, 2018.

Once water delivery has ended, KID crews will begin baseline testing. Baseline testing provides the opportunity for crews to measure the amount of water seepage from the canals. During testing, canals may appear to be more full than usual due to the intentional backup of water, this allows us to measure the amount of loss from starting to end point.

We would also like to remind our customers after water is turned off for the season, to please winterize your valve and have sprinkler systems blown out to help prevent cracking and breakage during freezing temperatures.

For more information on winterizing procedures please visit our website at www.kid.org or contact Customer Service at 586-9111.
