A 38-year-old man died early Monday morning in a single car accident just west of Colfax, WA.

The Washington State Patrol, says our news partner KNDU-TV, reported Charles C. Shaw of Kennewick was about 8 miles west of the small town near Pullman, when his car left State Route 26 around 1am. It crossed the centerline, down the embankment and crashed, ejecting him through the windshield. The car traveled across a small creek and struck a tree, it was that impact that catapulted Shaw out of the car.

Troopers said he was not wearing a seatbelt, he was pronounced dead at the scene. It's not known if drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash, it remains under investigation.
