It appears a fire set by vandals fortunately put itself out.

Kennewick police are investigating a suspicious fire that occurred at 4457 South Palouse Sunday evening.

Contractor Scott Gibson arrived at the job site Monday morning and found someone attempted to set numerous fires to the home being built.   Areas of the subfloor were scorched and burned through.  However, one of the fires burned through some plumbing that had been completed and was charged with water, which ended up actually putting the fire out, and possibly saving the building from further damage.

Police don't have any suspects, and are asking anyone in the area with information to report it to Tri Cities Crime Stoppers at 509-586-TIPS (8477).
