Kennewick Police Searching for Driver of Stolen Truck Tied to Walmart Theft

Friday evening Kennewick police were led on a brief but wild chase after a man attempted to steal stereo equipment from Walmart.

Around 7:20pm, the unidentified suspect allegedly left the store without paying for the equipment.  Police arrived as the suspect was driving away in a pickup truck.  He nearly struck a Kennewick patrol car and jumped the curb in an effort to get away.

Police pursued the suspect towards the Canyon Lakes Golf Course, at which time the driver abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot.

Police were not able to apprehend the suspect,  he is described as a white male  in his mid-40′s, with sandy or blonde-colored hair.   A search of the truck didn’t turn up any leads, police had not been able to determine who it’s owner is.  Inside the truck, the also found stolen license plates from Washington and out-of-state.

The investigation continues.
