Kennewick police are working on leads to identify the driver who hit two pedestrians and their dog at the intersection of 10th and Washington Street Wednesday evening.

Around 6:40 pm, 18-year-old Daniel Reyes and 44-year-old Floriza Vejar were walking when struck. The truck fled the scene leaving both Reyes and Vejar lying in the road!

Vejar was walking a small dog which was not injured.

A passerby was able to call 9-1-1 and catch the dog, which tried to run away. The passerby stayed with the pedestrians until the ambulance arrived.

Reyes and Vejar were taken to Trios Health Center (formerly KGH) and treated.   Fortunately, their injuries were not serious.

The truck has been described as a dark blue or dark gray extended cab Dodge pickup with a canopy of matching color and a center rear brake light and windows all around. The front of the truck had a light-colored, possibly chrome, grill. the wheels were a lighter color.
