After launching an investigation last month, Kennewick police have now apprehended a man accused of raping an 8-year-old girl multiple times.

36-year-old Pedro Zalamanca-Zalamanca was said to have committed the crimes. Kennewick detectives began an in-depth investigation which resulted in an arrest warrant, probable cause for Rape of a Child First Degree, and First Degree Child Molestation.

Because police said Zalamanca had moved from Kennewick to Oregon, and has ties to Mexico, U.S. Marshalls were brought in and his Warrant was extraditable nationwide. Basically, in case he ran he could be arrested anywhere.

Due to the investigation, he was located and arrested at a home in Milton-Freewater Thursday morning.
